Fly Fishing Classes

On The Water Classes: Max 4, (May-October)

These are very in depth Fly Fishing classes which will be held on the water at the lake or river chosen by the customer with the help of the instructor. This will consist of going to the sight chosen, camping and or renting a cabin. Meals can be supplied by Rp3 as we have a acc omplished cook which will prepare all meals required. Depending on the budget of the client we can have a variety of menus. These can be anything from Hot dogs and hamburgers and open fire homemade meas in a bag to Steak and Lobster and even many different ethnic foods including Indian, Thai, and German.

As for the classes, we will go over the basics with you right there where it all happens. All the content covered in the regular Fly Fishing classes will be covered in this class. The student will have the advantage of being at the water to check out the bugs and have them explained and shown how to fish them. This will be done over a 3 day period (Including Travel to and from location) and will consist of two full days of instruction with ample time on the water to test what you have learned.

FlyFish Fanatics™ family camping adventure. (May-October)

All the same aspects of the on the water Fly Fishing classes explained above with a twist. Rp3 will not only teach you the sport of Flyfishing but will also teach you and the family all aspects of the camping experience. Rick will show the whole family how to set up camp, make a fire, gather & chop wood, cook on the open fire, make hot dog sticks, and much much more. This is a great bonding experience for the whole family that you will remember for years to come. After taking this “Class” you and your family will have all the tools you need to go out and Camp and fish with confidence.

Casting Classes: (Year Round) $45 per hour (2 Hr Min)

Whether you are new to FlyFishing or just want to do a bit of a tune up of your casting stroke, these classes will help. We will do one of 2 things, either go to a local lake or to a local field to practice. We try to go to a lake as it is better for learning on, but this does depend on weather.

For the beginner, You will get to learn The Roll cast, The false Cast, & the Double Haul.

If you have been fishing for a while, we will help with tuning your cast to help with those nasty tailing loops and more.We will also teach a few other more advanced casts like the Double Haul, & the Side arm cast.

Private Classes : 1-2 People, (Year round) $250 Per Person

Classes are for up to 2 people and are much more in depth than the other classes. The classes are very casual and don’t follow any time and/or subject restraints. Theses classes are the most beneficial for the student because they spend more time with our instructor. Classes will cover all aspects of the course outline below, plus more.

Semi Private : 3-4 Persons, (Year round) $200 Per Person

(Includes Both books Written By Rick Passek) worth $44.90

Classes are similar to the Private classes but will be more structured. The semi private classes are for up to 4 students and will cover all aspects shown in the course outline below.

Group Classes : Minimum of 7, Maximum of 10 Persons,

(March- October) $150 Per Person

(Includes Rick Passeks First Book (The Freshman FlyFisher, a Beginners Guide for a new Generation)

These Classes are more structured than the other classes offered, but you will learn all you need to start enjoying this great sport, and will cover all aspects of the course outline below.

Group classes will Start yearly in March and will be offered until October of each year. If you are interested in joining us for a group class, please check out our online calender for dates.

Classes will be held in Surrey and the casting portion would be held at a local Surrey pond.

Classes are for a Max of 10 students. If there are less than 7 students signed up one week before the class, the classes will be rescheduled.

ALL Classes will consist of approximately 8-10hrs of combined theory & practical instruction.

Class format will be two days long consisting of 3-4hrs theory and 3-4hrs casting each day

Fly Tying Classes $100 per student

Fly Tying classes will be held on 4 Weekday evenings. Once the classes are filled, I send out a poll to see what evenings work best for the students, and then I book the dates. Usually I shoot for Tuesday Evenings from 6-9pm.

In the class you will learn;

  • Basic tools needed
  • Materials
  • At the least 8 different fly patterns will be taught
  • Different Techniques used in tying (Dubbing, Hackle, Marabou, plus MUCH More)

If you have your own Vice, please bring it to class as it is always better to learn with your own tools, if you do not have any, don’t worry, we supply all tools and materials during class times. The classes will be limited to a maximum of 5 students to make the learning experience better for the student.
